Touchly Renderer Standard

0.4 Changelog

  • New format available, now you can convert any 2D video (Monocular Depth estimation).
  • Now it’s possible to convert videos over 1 hour long.

Touchly Renderer takes as input videos in the VR180 format, and converts them to the Touchly format, ready to play in volumetric mode in the app. The output is optimized for best playback on Quest and Quest 2.

It requires a DirectX 12 capable Windows PC. Almost all commercially-available graphics cards released in the last several years support DirectX 12.

Both are free for personal use. For commercial use, please contact contact@touchly.app.

NOTE: Make sure you set your dedicated GPU as default, specially necessary for laptops.
Guide for NVIDIA and AMD, just replace the executable with “Touchly+Renderer.exe”.

Usage

  • Input: Input in the VR180 format. If it’s not 2:1 ratio it will be resized.
  • Time range: Allows you to render only a portion of the input video. Tip: Use this to test on a few seconds before converting the full video.
  • Baseline: Distance between the center of the two stereo cameras (in meters). If you don’t know it the default is usually a good guess.
  • Frame Interpolation: Only a portion of the frames will be processed, then intermediate frames will be interpolated to the original framerate (only for the depth maps). This makes processing faster but adds artifacts, and reduced accuracy in the intermediate frames.
  • Width resolution limit: Limit the output resolution. “0” means no limit. Useful for devices with a lower resolution decode limit (ex: Quest 1).
  • Output: Output directory. You can specify the format (mp4/mkv/webm).
